Socks tested in Antarctica? VoXX Vision passed where most others fail

When you imagine extreme conditions for testing socks, Antarctica probably comes to mind first. It was right there, among glaciers and temperatures far below zero, that VoXX® VISION socks went through one of the toughest endurance tests that thermal socks have ever faced.

Six Weeks at the End of the World

  • In January and February 2019, 13 members of the scientific expeditions at the J. G. Mendel Antarctic station and CzECO Nelson had one extra task: wearing and testing VoXX® VISION thermal socks made from CLIMAYARN merino wool. The conditions weren't exactly ideal for comfortable testing – temperatures ranged from +15 to -15 °C, the wind ripped through anything that wasn't screwed down, and the scientists had to wade through swollen glacial streams or step into the sea at -2 °C.

  • The result? Overall satisfaction with the product was very high. The socks earned the right to be labeled with Masaryk University's trademark „Tested in Antarctica".

What makes VISION socks special?

  • Behind the excellent performance in polar conditions are a few key features. At the core is CLIMAYARN merino wool, a special material that provides excellent temperature regulation and keeps your feet warm down to -20°C. Unlike synthetic materials, merino naturally wicks moisture away while also keeping you warm even in damp conditions.

  • The other key component is the antibacterial SilproX® silver fibers. Silver ions prevent the growth of bacteria responsible for unpleasant odors, and this is exactly where VISION socks excelled in Antarctic testing. Most testers didn’t notice any smell even after several days of intense wear. For winter activities, when you don't take your socks off that often, this is an invaluable feature.

  • Terry knit in key areas then provides padding against pressure points and blisters, which you'll especially appreciate on long mountain climbs or all-day hikes in tough terrain.

Who are VISION socks ideal for?

  • Thermal socks are designed for anyone who spends time outdoors in winter. Whether you're into mountain hiking, trekking, or outdoor activities in general, these socks can handle even the toughest conditions.

  • And finally, one practical insight from the Antarctic test: at very low temperatures and with less physical activity, it's recommended to pair with a second sock or choose warmer footwear. The crucial factor is always the footwear itself—a good thermal sock and a suitable boot make the perfect combination.

  • If you're looking for winter socks that can handle truly extreme conditions and are comfortable all day long, VoXX® VISION are a clear choice. Their Antarctic test speaks for itself.
